Training Classes

I have worked with numerous dogs over the last few years, with various problems ranging from nervous aggression, non-socialisation and separation anxiety to name a few! No two dogs are ever the same and there is no set method for any one problem.

I like to have a consultation and meet the dog before a plan of action is put in to place. This can be anything from intensive one on one with the owner, getting the dog out in social situations or working with my pack to overcome any dog related issues.

We have known Helen for eighteen months since we rescued Ben, a thirteen month old Irish wolfhound with a more issues than a local newspaper.

Day 1 would not be in another room separated from us by dog gate without whining. Night one, howled non stop, neighbours can verify. He also managed to claw the back door from top to bottom. He was a big boy even at thirteen months!

We called Helen who came at once and returned on many occasions to begin an association that turned to friendship as she has dealt with his issues one by one. Both Ben and we have benefited by attending Helens training classes. Her biggest success was to get us to change our ideas and believe that we were in control of the dog and not vice versa.

We have two lively and very lovable boxers but with an unfortunate history of bad behaviour. Blaze is a rescue dog badly treated when young. He is very nervous and responds aggressively when dogs or people come too close. Flossie is very exuberant but when on the loose tries to pin other dogs down. Walking them as a pair was often a nightmare. We tried hard - dog classes all over Kent and eight different trainers. Small individual improvements did not last and were not effective when the two dogs were together.

Having seen Helen calmly walking her pack in the village we asked if she would tackle our two.

Helen knows no fear. On day one, overruling our misgivings, she took the two straight off and introduced them to her pack. Within hours they were socialising and walking with other dogs. Now they spend time each week with Helen socialising and playing at her home with the pack then being walked and intensively trained with the other dogs. All the situations we have been avoiding she tackles head-on. Blaze meets people and behaves calmly. Flossie is improving when meeting other dogs.

We know it is a long haul but the improvement in their behaviour already has been wonderful. Helen is very dedicated and our dogs love her. We would urge anyone who has a problem dog to seek Helen's help. We only wish we had met her a lot earlier. We cannot praise Helen enough.
